We are seeing more leaks of upcoming Windows 8 screenshots in the past month than in the whole year before. It is not clear what caused the increase in leaks, could be additional beta testers, that new features have been integrated recently or that Microsoft’s Guerrilla marketing campaign has started.
The latest leak shows three screenshots of a new Aero Light interface. It is not clear yet if the interface will make it in this form into the final product, but it could be that the interface will be succeeding the Aero Basic interface of Windows 7.

Aero Lite in Windows 8 will probably be the standard fallback theme if the computer is not capable of displaying all the graphical effects of the full Aero theme. Please note that the theme is still listed under Windows 7 Basic in the screenshots which may indicate that Aero Lite is just used internally for development purposes. Another indication of an early release is the fact that the themes are still showing up as Windows 7 themes.
The first screenshot reveals a new feature that no other news source seems to have mentioned up until now. The basic theme under Windows 7 does not support thumbnail preview images of programs in the taskbar, the new Aero Lite theme seems to support those.
